Once again, Dubai has the honourable task of hosting the Annual ICC Banking Commission Meeting. The last time we held this event was in 2009 and since then there have been a number of major developments across Dubai’s banking and financial services sectors.

One main achievement has been the establishment of the ICC Regional Banking Commission MENA in February 2013. Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry played a significant role in the creation of this new entity and we are pleased to be continuing our partnership with the ICC by hosting this annual meeting.

The establishment of the ICC Regional Banking Commission MENA in Dubai has had a positive effect on trade financing and encouraging best practices across the region. The unit is also helping to strengthen Dubai’s role as a regional financial hub. The UAE’s banking sector is the largest in the Arab world, with assets worth 1.3 times its GDP and the ICC Regional Banking Commission MENA is playing a key part in this growing industry.

The ICC Banking Commission Meeting is an important date for bankers, business leaders, finance experts, lawyers and government officials. It is the only event of its kind and gathers over 400 people from more than 50 countries worldwide. Dubai Chamber is delighted to be playing its part in this event and we look forward to hearing the dialogue that is sure to emerge.

This meeting is also a chance for the business community to forge new partnerships and alliances. It is also a platform to share knowledge and new ideas and we encourage you to take full advantage of the opportunities it presents.

The agenda offers a wide selection of informative sessions on pertinent topics that affect the industry today as well as unparalleled networking opportunities for all participants from across the globe. Some of the highlights of the program include the presentation of the recent ICC Banking Commission initiative on Sustainable Shipment as well as key topics related to compliance, harmonization of market terminology and the development of advanced supply chain finance solutions.
